AVCA National Poll - October 4, 2011Springfield, Mass. - October 4, 2011 - The Springfield College women's volleyball program continued to be recognized on the national level as it moved up the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Coaches Top 25 National Poll on Tuesday afternoon. Owning a 16-0 mark so far this season, the Pride is now ranked 20th nationally.
This marks the highest that the women's volleyball program has been ranked nationally since 1995 when the squad reached the NCAA Championship Elite Eight and was ranked 13th.
The Pride is one of only two teams from New England ranked in the national poll, as rival UMass Boston is currently ranked 17th among Division III teams.
In addition, with its 16-0 record, Springfield is one of just four teams remaining in all of Division III women's volleyball to be unbeaten. The others include defending national champion Calvin, Washington-St. Louis, and McMurray.
Springfield will continue league play on Tuesday evening when it travels to take on Smith College at 7:00 pm.
