Gaudreault had a great start, holding first place right from the beginning. The senior built up a sizeable lead, before Wartburg senior Taylor Moore closed in. Gaudreault led the field until the race's final turn, when Moore came around the corner to take the lead. On the final stretch, Moore won the heat with a time of 2:11.91, while Trine junior Trisha King edged out Gaudreault at the finish line to take second with a time of 2:12.26. Gaudreault's third place time was 2:12.34.
The senior's qualifying time of 2:09.57 in the 800m is the fastest time in Division III this season and the 7th fastest time in D-III history. This is Gaudreault's third appearance on the national stage, as she earned All-America honors in the spring with a fourth place finish in the 800m.
