SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Nov. 8, 2003 – Springfield College junior midfielder
Jennifer Durgin (Gorham, Maine) scored the match’s only goal but it was enough to lift the top-seeded Pride past fifth-seed Clark, 1-0, in the semifinals of the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Field Hockey Championship tonight at Springfield College’s Benedum Field.
The Pride will host No. 3 seed Mount Holyoke on Sunday, Nov. 9 at 3 p.m. at Benedum Field with the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament on the line. Mount Holyoke dispatched MIT, 4-1, in the other semifinal.
In the first meeting between the teams, Mount Holyoke edged SC, 2-1, on Benedum Field on Oct. 14.
Durgin’s goal, her fourth of the season, came 4:33 into the match. SC junior keeper
Lindsey Pardue (Houston, Texas) made the lead stand, registering eight saves to record her fifth shutout of the ’03 season.

Lauren Weiner (Kensington, Md.) scored two goals, including the game-winner, and had an assist as the third-seeded Lyons defeated No. 7 seed MIT, 4-1.
