Monson Named NEWMAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week

Elizabeth Monson Boston, Mass. - September 30, 2013 - Elizabeth Monsen (Wayne, N.J.) was chosen as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

Monsen played a pivotal role in Springfield defeating a pair of regionally ranked opponents this week. She started in the Pride's defensive unit that allowed just six shots on goal and helped lead the Pride to a 2-1 overtime win over Roger Williams, which entered the game ranked 4th in New England.

On Saturday, Monsen came off the bench and helped power the Pride to a 1-0 win at MIT, knocking off the top-ranked team in the region and the nation's 13th-ranked team.
