Late Goal Lifts Western Conn. Past Women's Soccer

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Sept 28, 2004 – Western Connecticut junior
Nicole Corbin scored twice, including the game winner in the 87th minute, propelling the Colonials 3-2, over Springfield College in a non-conference match this afternoon on Brock-Affleck Field.
SC senior forward
Molly Desroches (Belchertown, Mass.) was fantastic in the loss, scoring her team-leading sixth goal of the season on a header in the 87th minute to tie the match at 2-2.Junior midfielder
Nora Clark (Springfield, Mass.) scored her first career goal in the 71st minute. The goal, which came with the Colonials leading 2-0, shifted the momentum towards the Pride.
WCSU junior forward
Lia Pellegrino-Young was the Colonials’ only other scorer. She connected on a deep shot that landed in the top left corner of the net in the 69th minute. Corbin’s decisive goal came less than a minute after Desroches knotted the match.
SC is back in action on Sat., Oct. 2 when it hosts Wellesley College, for a 1:00 p.m. match.

Gibson has led the Pride to the NCAA Tournament in six of the last eight years and has established the Pride as one of the top programs in the country.
