Toby Cole Named To All-New England Division III Baseball Team
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., May 15, 2003 - Springfield College junior shortstop
Toby Cole was named to the All-New England Division III Baseball Second Team, released today.
Cole, a native of
Blue Hill, Maine, was New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference Second-Team selection this season. He earned first-team all-conference honors in 2002, and was a second-team all-region pick in 2001. Cole also earned the 2003 Springfield College Outstanding Junior Male Team Sport Athlete Award at the college's annual Sports Recognition Banquet (May 4).
Cole was second in the NEWMAC in runs batted in (36), tied for third in home runs (five), tied for fourth in runs scored (33), tied for fifth in doubles (11), tied for sixth in stolen bases (six), and eighth in hitting (.367).
The Pride reached the semifinals of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Baseball Tournament and finished the season with a 19-19 record.
