Kansas City, Mo. - November 20, 2012
- The Springfield College women's soccer team was one of 723 college soccer teams from across the nation to post a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
With that accomplishment, the Pride earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2011-12 academic year, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced.
Head coach John Gibson's squad totaled a 3.26 team GPA and was one of four schools in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) to garner the academic accolade.
This season, Springfield advanced to its third-straight NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship after capturing the NEWMAC title by virtue of penalty kicks over Wheaton College.
