No. 6 Wrestling Win Messiah Petrofes Invitational

Dec. 4, 2004 - Springfield College senior captain Brian Viglione (Chelmsford, Mass.)
was one of three individual champions and 16 place winners as the No. 6 Pride won the team championship at the Petrofes Invitational hosted by Messiah College.
Senior Tim O’Donnell (Hudson, N.H.)
and junior Mike Fergosi (Carmel, N.Y.)
won the 165 and 125-lb. titles, respectively, as the Pride compiled 170.5 points, ahead of runner-up Brockport (157.5) and third-place Mount Union (128) in the 12-team field.
Senior Scott Fay (Danbury, Conn.),
the eighth-ranked heavyweight in Division III, picked up four victories en route to a second place finish, while sophomore All-American Mike Gaeta (Manalapan, N.J.)
finished runner up in the 141-pound weight class and sophomore Bill Koch (Hackettstown, N.J.)
finished second at 165 pounds.
This was the Pride’s third tournament victory of the season, as the Pride also finished first in the Ithaca Invitational and Doug Parker Invitational.
The Pride kicks off the duel meet portion of its schedule this week, hosting WPI on Wednesday (Dec. 8) at 7:30 p.m. and Norwich on Saturday (Dec. 11) at 1:30 p.m. in Blake arena.

Head Coach Jason Holder
Jason Holder will enter his third season as head wrestling coach in 2013. Holder had a standout first season at the helm of the Pride, leading Springfield to the NEWA Duals Championship and taking three wrestlers to the NCAA Championships.
