Springfield, Mass. - October 28, 2011 - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Cross Country Championships originally scheduled for Sunday afternoon has been postponed due to an impending storm. The race will now take place in Boston's Franklin Park on Monday, October 31.The men's will race at 3:00 pm, while the women will hit the course at 4:00 pm.
Due to course conditions and potential severe weather in the Boston area on Saturday night and Sunday, the park will close at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday and remain closed through Sunday, necessitating the change.
Jim Pennington enters his 28th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2011-2012. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
