



Springfield, Mass. - December 23, 20101 - The Springfield College basketball programs will welcome in the New Year in usual fashion as they will serve as hosts for the Hampton Inn West Springfield/Naismith Classic on the weekend of December 31-January 2.For the women, this marks the 17th annual tournament while the men will be hosting the Classic for the 25th year. Hampton Inn West Springfield will serve as the official sponsor for the third-straight year.
The action will kick off on December 31 at 1:00 pm when Hunter will square off against Eastern Connecticut for the opening game of the men's tournament. Later that afternoon, Springfield College takes on the University of New England 3:00 pm.
Sunday's action will consist of four games, with the men's consolation kicking off the day at 1:00 pm. The men's championship game will be played at 3:00 pm before the Springfield College women's basketball team will battle Roger Williams at 5:30 pm. Western Connecticut and Skidmore will close out the day's games at 7:30 pm.
The women's tournament will conclude on Monday afternoon with the consolation tipping at 1:30 pm and the championship game starting at 3:30 pm.

Charlie Brock in 2012-13 will enter his 15th season as the head coach at Springfield College and his 33rd season as a head coach overall. Brock’s achievements as a coach are certainly impressive. He has taken three schools to the NCAA Division III Tournament and has an overall, 32-year record of 440-397. Read more.
