



Complete BracketsGrantham, Pa. - December 6, 2008 - Behind senior Chris Brown (East Hartford, Conn.) who won the 285 pound weight class championship, the Springfield College wrestling team finished fifth this past weekend at the Petrofes Invitational, hosted by Messiah College.
The Pride, which finished with 108.5 points, placed behind #24 Wilkes 165.0 2, #13 Cortland 132.5 3, #26 Brockport 122, and #20 Messiah 115 5. Behind the Pride were Mount Union 85.5 , #30 Heidelberg 75, Johns Hopkins 71, Bridgewater State 69.5, Ursinus 60.5, Oneonta 60.5, Muhlenberg 51, and Gettysburg 23.5.
As the No. 2 seed, Brown was the lone member of the Pride to claim an individual championship as he took first in the 285 weight class.
Other top finishers for the Pride included Ryan McGilvray, who finished third after defeating teammate Eddie Giron in the third-place match at 141. Giron finished fourth for his efforts on the weekend.
Rob Mifsud advanced to the fifth-place match at 157, while Chris Perry took fifth in the 165-pound weight class. Three members of the Pride took seventh place in their respective classes -- Victor Stanziale at 174, Bill Schady at 197, and Richard Wigglesworth at 285,

Jason Holder will enter his second season as head wrestling coach in 2012. Holder had a standout first season at the helm of the Pride, leading Springfield to the NEWA Duals Championship and taking three wrestlers to the NCAA Championships.
