



Babson Park, Mass -- March 3, 2011 -- Pete Avdoulos, diving coach at Springfield College, has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference Men's Diving Coach of the Year, as selected by members of the conference coaching staff earlier today.It was the 10th time that Avdoulos has earned a NEWMAC Diving Coach of the Year Award since 1991. Avdolous has picked up the award several times in the last few years as he was also honored in 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, and 2010.
Also announced within the same release were the other NEWMAC post-season award-winners. Springfield College had two more.
They were freshman Kellie Pennington (Monson, Mass.), who was named the NEWMAC Women's Swimmer of the Year, and the NEWMAC Women's Rookie of the Year.
Also, senior Brooks Farrar (Medfield, Mass.) was named the NEWMAC Men's Diver of the Year. Farrar won the one-meter diving event at the championships, and finished second in the three-meter. Teammate Brian Sobel finished runner-up to Farrar on the one-meter and captured the three-meter championship, giving Springfield the sweep in the diving competition.

John Taffe enters his 24th season in 2012-2013 as the head coach of the men's and women's swimming teams at Springfield College. Under Taffe’s leadership, the Pride has returned to its status as one of the best collegiate swimming and diving programs in Division III. Read more.
Peter Avdoulos is regarded as one of the top diving coaches in the nation, and will enter his 28th season as the diving coach for both the men's and women's programs in 2012-2013. The current NEWMAC Men's Diving Coach of the Year, Avdoulos has coached countless All-New England and All-American divers, as well as several National Champions. Read more.
