Tarpey Named Pats Coach of the Week

Shawn Tarpey Springfield, Mass. - October 18, 2011 - Former Springfield College quarterback and assistant coach Shawn Tarpey was recently named the New England Patriots High School Football Coach of the Week after leading his East Bridgewater High School team to a 36-12 victory over Cohasset High School.

Tarpey lined up under center for the Pride from 1994-1997 and was selected as a team captain in 1997. He later went on to serve as a graduate assistant coach in 2000 and 2001.

On Oct. 6, Tarpey led a well-executed offensive game plan which helped East Bridgewater avenge last year’s loss to Cohasset. The win improves the Vikings to 5-0 and 2-0 in the South Shore League. The New England Patriots Charitable Foundation donated $1,000 to East Bridgewater High School’s football program in Tarpey’s name in recognition of his Coach of the Week selection.

This season marks the 16th year in which the Patriots have joined the National Football League in conducting the High School Coach of the Week program, which recognizes outstanding high school coaches and promotes youth football throughout New England.
