



Springfield, Mass. - November 10, 2008 - Playing a major role in the women's volleyball team capturing the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference Championships this weekend, Sarah Lang-Rodean was selected as the NEWMAC Athlete of the Week.Lang-Rodean help pace the Pride to its first NEWMAC Championship since 2004 as Springfield is headed back to the NCAA Tournament. The sophomore middle blocker hit an impressive .471 over three matches, as she notched 3.45 kills per game. In the Pride's quarterfinal sweep of Clark, Lang-Rodean was unstoppable, registering 12 kills on 13 swings for a sparkling .923 hitting percentage. Lang-Rodean then pounded out nine kills at a .444 clip in a win over Coast Guard. In the championship win over Wellesley, Lang-Rodean was tremendous as she registered a team-best 17 kills to go along with four digs and two blocks.

Moira Long will enter her second season as head women's volleyball coach in the fall of 2012. Long wasted little time putting her stamp on the program, taking the Pride to the NCAA Championship Elite Eight in 2011.
