Cross Country Has Strong Showing at Purple Valley Classic
SPRINGFIELD, Mass (September 22, 2007) -
John DeVancy (Albany, N.Y.) led the way as the Springfield College men's cross country team had a solid showing in the Purple Valley Classic in Williamstown on Saturday afternoon.
As a team, the men finished eighth of 12 teams that competed in the Invitational with 401 points. The host, Williams College, bested the competition to take the win with 52 points. The Ephs were closely followed by Amherst which had 64 points and Dartmouth with 68 points.
The top performer of the meet for Springfield was DeVancy who finished 55th with a time of 28:15.

Kyle Moriarty (North Kingston, R.I.) (28:57), sophomore
Chris VanAmburgh (Fitchburg, Mass.) (29:03), freshman
Matthew Geanacopoulos (Ludlow, Mass.) (29:31), and sophomore
Joe Locascio (Hebron, Conn.) (29:43).
The next meet for the Pride is October 6th when it will compete in the New England Championships at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.

Bryan Brown will enter his second season as the head men's cross country coach in the fall of 2012. Brown, who was a former All-American at Springfield College in track, led Springfield to a second-place finish at the NEWMAC Championships a year ago .
