Box Score

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- April 16, 2008 -- Alexandra Bazzano netted a game-high six goals to lead the Springfield College women's lacrosse team to a 19-7 non-conference victory over the visiting Plymouth State Panthers on Wednesday afternoon at Stagg Field.

With the win, Springfield improves to 8-4 while the Panthers drop to 1-7 this season.

The Pride was relentless in the opening stanza as it outshot the visitors, 31-6, and held the Panthers to 4 for 20 on clears.

Erin Doolan put the Pride on top just under three minutes into the game as she finished off a feed from Heather Dobson from the left side of the cage. The Panthers responded just 25 seconds later when Melissa Dark converted on a free position attempt to knot the game at one. Over the next 12-plus minutes, the Pride rattled off five unanswered goals to take a commanding 6-1 lead. Jennifer Zubkus found the back of the cage twice and added an assist to lead the Pride in the five-goal spurt. The Panthers then netted three of the next four goals in the contest, a pair coming from Kalie Judd, to cut the Pride’s lead to three. However, Dobson’s goal after she wrapped around the cage with 34 seconds left in the opening stanza gave Springfield an 8-4 lead at the half.

Rachel Lampros netted a goal just 46 seconds into the second half as the Pride took off running. Bazzano tacked on another goal 17 seconds later as the Pride would eventually go on to lead by as many as 12 in the second half. SC closed out the game scoring six unanswered goals.

Bazzano finished with six goals, while Zubkus added three goals and two assists. Lindsay Bugbee was all over the field as she netted two goals to go along with six caused turnovers.

Judd finished with three goals for the Panthers in the game. Sarah Beebe kept the Panthers in the game throughout, as she was terrific in the cage. She made 22 saves in the loss.

The Pride returns to action this Saturday in a key conference matchup when it travels to take on the nationally-ranked Babson Beavers at 3:00 pm.
