Michael Kilmartin: Men's Soccer

Michael Kilmartin has been selected Springfield College's Male Maroon Club Athlete of the Week (Oct. 22) as he led the men's soccer team to a 1-0-1 record over the past week.

Kilmartin's impact cannot be measured statistically as the senior defender has made his mark as a mainstay in the defensive half for head coach Peter Haley. A leader on the field, Kilmartin has anchored the Pride's defense throughout the season.

A native of Waterford, N.Y., Kilmartin has started all 16 games for the Pride in the back. On Wednesday evening, Springfield defeated Brandeis, 4-3, in non-conference action before battling to a 1-1 draw versus MIT on Saturday afternoon.

Springfield currently sits in third place in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference standings, has an overall record of 7-7-2, and a 3-2-1 record in league play. The Pride has been especially strong as of late, going 3-1-2 in its past six outings.

Kilmartin and the Pride wrap up the regular season on Wednesday evening under the lights at Brock-Affleck Field at the Irv Schmid Sports Complex in a non-conference matchup with Western Connecticut. Kick-off is slated for 7:00 p.m.
