Baker, Hammerstrom, Dayton Event Winners in Men's Track and Field Tri-Meet

Brandon Hammerstrom Springfield, Mass. -- April 6, 2013 -- Sam Baker, Brandon Hammerstrom, and John Dayton of Springfield College all triumphed in their field event specialities at this afternoon's track & field tri-meet at the Pride's Blake Track. In team results, Middlebury won with 181 points, followed by Bowdoin with 143.5, and Springfield with 87.5.

Baker won the high jump with a leap of 6-feet, 2-inches. Hammerstrom captured the shot put with a heave of 43-feet, 9-inches. And Dayton took the hammer throw with a toss of 177-feet, 5-inches.

Also winning for host Springfield was Dan Sugar in the 10,000-meter run as he finished in 37:48.56.

Second-place winners for the Pride included Ken Toal in the 100 meters in 11.27 seconds, and Peter Andrews in the hammer with a toss of 169-feet, 1-inch.
