Men's Volleyball Ranked Second In AVCA Division III Men’s Preseason Top 15 Coaches Poll

John Coen Lexington, Ky. - January 12, 2012 - The Springfield College men's volleyball team will begin its season ranked second in the 2012 AVCA Division III Men’s Preseason Top 15 Coaches Poll, which was released recently.

Springfield received two first-place votes as it totaled 223 points in the preseason poll. Defending national champion Nazareth College sits atop the poll with 13 first-place votes and 233 total votes. Rounding out the top five include Carthage, NYU, and Juniata.

This season, Springfield's schedule is loaded with teams ranked in the preseason national poll. Springfield is scheduled for a rematch of last year's national championship against Nazareth and will also play fourth-ranked NYU, fifth-ranked Juniata, as well as sixth-ranked UC Santa Cruz in the Volleyball Hall of Fame Invitational. The Pride will also square off against No. 9 MIT, No. 10 Baruch, No. 11 Medaille, No. 12 Emmanuel, No. 13 New Paltz, and No. 15 Vassar.

The Pride's season kicks off Thursday as it competes in the Outrigger Invitational.
