Evans, Fox Lead Individual Men's Gymnasts at Army

Ty Evans West Point, N.Y. -- January 16, 2010 -- Ty Evans and Josh Fox finished in the top seven in two separate individual events to lead the Springfield College men's gymnasts in the West Point Open Saturday evening. SC had finished third of seven as a team one night before.

The top performance of the night among Springfield individuals belonged to Evans, a sophomore from San Jose, Calif.. He placed second on the parallel bars with a score of 13.950. Evans also placed seventh on the still rings at 13.200.

Fox, a junior from Ellicott City, Md., placed third in the floor exercise at 14.350. He also took fourth on the high bar at 13.400.

Other top finishers for Springfield included a fourth by freshman Jimmy Pezzino (Buffalo, N.Y.) in the floor exercise (14.050), a fifth by senior Kyle Bartgis (Nottingham, Md.) in the parallel bars (13.650), a sixth by junior Mike Licari (Haverhill, Mass.) in the vault (14.750), and a seventh by sophomore Joe Gianino (Burlington, Mass.) on the pommel horse (13.050).

Up next, the SC men's gymnastics team will travel to Annapolis, Md. to meet Navy.
