Gulino Earns All-America Honors At NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship

GREENCASTLE, Ind., March 15, 2003 – Springfield College sophomore
Blake Gulino (Old Saybrook, Conn.) placed fourth in the long jump at this weekend’s NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Depauw University.
Gulino, the 2003 New England Division III Champion in the event, jumped 22 feet, 5 ¾ inches, and earned All-America honors for the first time. On the strength of Gulino’s performance, SC placed 36th overall at the meet.
On the women’s side, junior All-American
Marisa Clapp (Charlton, Mass.) ran in two events at the NCAA Championships. Clapp placed ninth in the 1,500 meters (4:36.67) and 12th in the 5,000 (17:43.62)

Ken Klatka, just inducted into the Springfield College Athletic Hall of Fame in October, 2011, enters his 37th season as head coach of the men’s track and field program in 2012-2013. He ranks among the nation’s most successful coaches, with an overall record of 442 wins, 144 losses, and two ties for an impressive .753 winning percentage. Under his direction, Kevin Coyle '12 won the 2011 Division III Indoor Long Jump National Championship.
