Gulino Earns All-America Honors At NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship

GREENCASTLE, Ind., March 15, 2003 – Springfield College sophomore Blake Gulino (Old Saybrook, Conn.) placed fourth in the long jump at this weekend’s NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Depauw University.

Gulino, the 2003 New England Division III Champion in the event, jumped 22 feet, 5 inches, and earned All-America honors for the first time. On the strength of Gulino’s performance, SC placed 36th overall at the meet.

On the women’s side, junior All-American Marisa Clapp (Charlton, Mass.) ran in two events at the NCAA Championships. Clapp placed ninth in the 1,500 meters (4:36.67) and 12th in the 5,000 (17:43.62)

Ken Klatka Ken Klatka, an associate professor of physical education at Springfield College, will enter his 38th season as head coach, and 44th as a coach overall, of the men’s track and field program in 2013-2014. He ranks among the nation’s most successful coaches, with an overall record of 447 wins, 156 losses, and two ties for an impressive .743 winning percentage.
