Desroches Named NEWMAC Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Nov. 3, 2003 –Springfield College’s Molly Desroches has been named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Week in women’s soccer.

Desroches, a junior midfielder from Belchertown, Mass., scored three goals on the week, including two in the first half of last Saturday's 4-1 victory over Babson in the NEWMAC Tournament quarterfinal. Desroches also scored a goal in a tough 3-2 double-overtime loss at Smith in the season's regular-season finale on October 28. Desroches is now tied for the team lead in goals with seven and in points with 17.

The No. 3 seed Pride advanced to play No. 2 Smith in the NEWMAC Tournament semifinals this Saturday, Nov. 8 at Wheaton College. That game will be played at 10:30 am. In the other semifinal, top-seed Wheaton will play No. 4 seed Wellesley at 1:30 pm.
