



Complete ResultsMedford, Mass. - January 31, 2009 - Behind terrific performances from Nikki Hay and Fatima Rose, the Springfield College women's track and field team finished third out of 10 teams on Saturday at Tufts.
Tufts won the meet with 245 points, followed by Amherst (153) and Springfield 142. Wesleyan (53), WPI (51), Conn. College (41), Trinity (28), Coast Guard (24), Fitchburg State (12), and Westfield (10) rounded out the competition.
The duo of Hay and Rose was outstanding as they each picked up several wins in the meet. Rose won the weight throw with a toss of 50-09.25 and also took first in the shot put with a 39-03.25. With her distance in the weight throw, Rose provisionally qualified for the NCAA's at Rose-Hulman in March.
As for Hay, she continued to dominate this season as she won the 55 meter dash in 7.30, the long jump with a 17-09.00, and the triple jump with a distance of 36-10.25. She also was the anchor leg of the winning 4x200 relay as she joined Katie Parente, Nicole Reynolds, and Erika Marks to finish in 1:47.86.
Also performing well for SC in the event was Lara Dalidowitz's second-place finish in the high jump with a 5-00.50 and Lacey Cartier's third-place run in the 600 meters (1:39.9). Amanda DiPaolo also finished second in the mile in 5:20.38, while Nicole Reynolds crossed the finish line of the 400 in third with a time of 1:03.27.
Jim Pennington enters his 29th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2012-2013. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
