Men's Soccer Shoots Down Plymouth State, 2-1

PLYMOUTH, N.H., , Sept. 8, 2002– Springfield College scored two unanswered goals in a 10-minute span in the second half Sunday and went on to a 2-1 victory over Plymouth State College on the second day of the Best Inn Men’s Soccer Kick-Off Classic at Panther Field.

The Pride evened its record at 1-1 after a tough 3-2 double-overtime loss to Norwich on Saturday.

Freshman Evan Johnson (Northford, Conn.) opened the scoring for SC by blasting home a penalty kick past Plymouth State keeper Brad Wilby in the 50th minute. The Pride notched its second goal on a nice outside move by sophomore Mike Fregosi (Carmel, N.Y.)nine minutes later.

PSC fought back, notching a goal by senior Rob Ball on a header off a throw-in from freshman Brad Wyman and a flick header from senior Jake Morley with 13 minutes remaining.
