



Centerville, Mass. - January 30, 2013 - First-year Jon Zirna was chosen as the ECAC Men's Gymnastics Rookie of the Week following a standout showing in the Pride's home opener versus Temple on Sunday.
The Buffalo, N.Y. native placed second in the all-around competition with a score of 79.65. Competing for the first time in Blake Arena, Zirna captured second on the pommel horse (14.2) and tied for fourth on the parallel bars (13.200). His 13.300 was good enough for seventh on the floor exercise, and he took ninth on the high bar after recording a 12.700. He also scored a a 13.450 on the vault and a 12.800 on the still rings.
Zirna and the Pride will return to action this weekend when it competes in the West Point Open.


Entering his 31st season as head men's gymnastics coach, Dr. Steve Posner is recognized as one of the most outstanding gymnastics coaches in the East. Posner led the Pride to another successful season in 2012 and was named the EIGL Coach of the Year. Read more.
