Williamstown, Mass. - September 27, 2008: The Springfield College women's cross country team finished sixth on Saturday afternoon in the Purple Valley Classic against some of the top competition in New England.
The Pride finished in sixth out of the 18 teams running in the 6k race. The Pride finished with a score of 185, while the host Williams College Ephs won the race with a score of 38. Middlebury (66), Amherst (99), Colby (105), and Keene State (174) were the only schools to place in front of Springfield.
Amanda DiPaolo (Garrison, N.Y.) continued to show she was one of the top runners in the region as she finished in seventh in a time 23:18.62. Teammate Lacey Cartier (York, Maine) was the next member of the team to finish, as she crossed in 28th in a time of 24:18.56.
Caitlyn Crosby (Yarmouthport, Mass.) finished in 52nd in 24:56.52, while Kristyn Meade (Raynham, Mass.) placed 74th with a time 25:31.93 . Michelle Mirti (Pompton Plains, N.J.) was on Meade's heals with her 76th place-finish with a time of 25:38.50.
Springfield's squad was rounded out by Lindsey Eby (Clifton Park, N.Y.) who ran the course in 25:49, finishing in 87th, followed by Amanda Mullen (Claremont, N.H.), who crossed in 109th in a time of 26:36.42.
The Pride return to action next Saturday when it runs at the Keene State Invitational.
