2013 Athletic Hall of Fame Inductee Spotlight: Kevin L. Cahill '01, G'04

Kevin Cahill

Springfield, Mass. - October 8, 2013 - Kevin L. Cahill ('01, G’04) is one of six inductees who will be enshrined into the Springfield College Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday, October 26. The 2013 hall of fame class will be inducted at the Alumni Awards and Athletic Hall of Fame Dinner at 7:30 p.m. as part of Homecoming Weekend festivities.

Cahill is one of the most decorated two-sport athletes in Springfield College athletics history, serving as the captain of both the football and baseball teams. And, his grasp on the record books during his time with the Pride has not waned. He still holds the school record for the most touchdown passes in a game.

In 2000, Cahill received a number of player of the year honors as a member of the football team, including being named the New England Player of the Year, the Eastern College Athletic Conference Player of the Year, and the Freedom Conference Player of the Year.

As the team’s quarterback, Cahill led the Pride to a pair of NCAA tournaments, including one that reached the East Regional Final. He was twice named Freedom First Team All-Conference in 1998 and 2000, and was named to the All-Conference Second Team once.

Cahill finished his career with 3,029 yards rushing, 44 rushing touchdowns, and 4,842 total yards of offense. On the baseball diamond, he was named to the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference team as one of Springfield’s top pitchers.

Cahill’s success in athletics has continued since his time at Springfield. With an impressive coaching resume including Maine Maritime, Tennessee Martin, Murray State, and the University of Maine, he now commands the sidelines as the assistant coach to the Yale University football team.

To this day, Cahill lives out the lessons he learned at Springfield College. Triangles are a constant reminder that balance is essential to leading a happy and successful life, something in which he takes pride and continues to strive toward.
