Field Hockey Wins Seventh-Straight SC Invitational
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Sept. 7, 2003 – Springfield College junior back
Kim Stevens (North Knox, Maine) was named the tournament MVP after leading the Pride to a 3-0 win over Hartwick College in the championship game of the Springfield Invitational this afternoon at Benedum Field.
The Pride (2-0), which won its seventh-straight SC Invitational title, defeated Hartwick for the fifth year in a row. Junior

Julie Winslow (West Falmouth, Mass.) with 13:24 remaining in the first half, and senior
Jen Bush (Wallingford, Conn.) scored an unassisted goal with 1:44 remaining to put Springfield up, 2-0, at halftime. Senior captain
Brianne Tompkins (Stormville, N.Y.) scored off an assist from senior
Amy Bartholomew (Enfield, Conn.) at the 29:40 mark of the second half to give the Pride a three-goal lead.

Lindsay Pardue (Houston, Texas) made nine save in goal for her first shutout of the season.

Kim Doody (Laconia, N.H.) scored a goal 1:17 seconds into overtime to give the Gulls a 4-3 victory over Westfield State. The Owls managed to tie the game with :08 seconds remaining in the second half when senior forward
Theresa Yacovone (East Longmeadow, Mass.) netted her second goal of the game.
