



New Orleans, La. - July 25, 2012 - A pair of student-athletes from the Springfield College women's track and field team were named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) 2012 Division III All-Academic Track & Field team.A total of 340 student-athletes representing 107 institutions were honored for their success in the classroom and on the national track and field level. Springfield's honorees included Kelly Curtis and Colleen Brague.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have met either of the following athletic standards: a student-athlete must have competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship or finished the regular season ranked in the national top 35 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 25 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org.
Both Curtis and Brague competed at the NCAA Outdoor Championships this spring in the javelin. Curtis also competed in the heptathlon, finishing fifth en route to All-America honors.

Jim Pennington enters his 29th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2012-2013. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
