SPRINGFIELD, Mass., March 29, 2003- Babson College junior right-hander
Jason Kosow (Exeter, N.H.) gave up just seven hits and two earned runs in nine innings as the Beavers defeated Springfield College, 4-2, in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday at Berry-Allen Field in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opener for both schools.
With the score tied 2-2 in the top of the ninth, Babson junior catcher
Joe Kehoe (Hyde Park, Mass.) opened the inning with a double and, two batters later, scored the decisive run on an SC error. Babson junior center-fielder
Mike Muccio (Northboro, Mass.) went 1-for-3 and drove in two runs.

John Beattie (Longmeadow, Mass.) and junior shortstop
Toby Cole (Blue Hill, Maine) both had two hits and an RBI.
In game two, Babson junior shortstop
Matt Bigda (Shrewsbury, Mass.) went 2-for-4 with four RBI and three runs scored to help lead the Beavers to an 11-5 victory over the Pride. Bigda’s three run triple sparked a seven run fourth inning. Junior right-hander
Jeff Heighington (Dracut, Mass.) went the distance and struck out eight to improve to 1-1 on the season.
SC’s
Toby Cole went 2-for-4 with two RBI, and junior second baseman
