



Team ResultsWest Point, N.Y. - March 14, 2009 - The Springfield College men's gymnastics team finished second in a quad meet hosted by Army on Saturday evening. Iowa took first place in the meet with a score of 339.950, followed by the Pride's 328.650. William & Mary finished just behind Springfield with a 328.250, while Army took fourth with a 317.500.
Last season, the Pride picked up a historic win over Army as it was the first time it had defeated the Knights in 26 years. With the win over William & Mary on Saturday, it marked the first time the Pride had defeated them in 27 years.
Springfield's Ty Evans and Josh Fox finished second and third, respectively, in the all-around competition to pace the way for the Pride. Evans took second with a 82.450, while teammate Fox finished in third with a score of 81.450.
Evans finished first in the high bar as he scored a 14.250 and took second on the vault with a 15.650. Fox took second in the floor exercise with a mark of 14.300.
Matt Bolognese continued to excel in the rings as he captured the competition with a score of 14.950. Michael Freundlich was also tremendous in the meet as he finished second on the high bar with a 14.100 and third in the pommel with a score of 13.600. Keith Stumpf also had strong performance as he took fifth in the vault with a 15.150.
Springfield returns to action as it host MIT on Saturday for its final home meet of the year.
