Women's Track & Field Places 20th At New England Intercollegiate Championships

DURHAM, N.H., May 10, 2003 - Springfield College junior
Marisa Clapp (Charlton, Mass.) took home a fifth place finish in the 1500-meter race to lead the Pride to a 20th place showing at the New England Intercollegiate Championships this weekend at the University of New Hampshire.
Freshman
Christina Davis (Orange, Conn.) placed fifth in the javelin throw (40.23 m) while junior
Leyla Williams (Unionville, N.Y.) finished seventh in the hammer throw (47.41m).
The Pride will next compete at the ECAC Division III Championships on May 15-16 at MIT.

Jim Pennington enters his 29th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2012-2013. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
