Davis, Jenkins Help Springfield Track & Field to Second-Place Finish

-- Senior sprinters Crystal Davis
and Laurie Jenkins
led the Springfield College women's track & field team to a second-place finish at this afternoon's tri-meet at SC's Blake Track. Middlebury came away victorious by scoring 143 points, followed by the Pride with 134, and Bowdoin with 108.
Davis placed first in the 100-meter finals with a time of 12.63 seconds, and was second in the 200 in 26.31. Jenkins then won the 200 meters with a time of 26.06 seconds, and finished second in the 400 in 1:00.33.
The two combined to help the 4x100 meter relay team capture first place in 50.16 seconds. The other two in that quartet included freshman Darian Dailey, and sophomore Elizabeth Saia.
The Pride had a few others greatly contribute. Winners included Gabriella Gaudreault in the 800 meter run in 2:18.50, Erica Fisher in the 10,000 meters with a time of 39:40.01, Elizabeth Footit in the 3000-meter steeplechase in 12:48.35, and Amanda Martin in the triple jump in 37-feet, 2 1/4-inches.

Jim Pennington enters his 30th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2013-2014. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
