



Centerville, Mass. - December 13, 2012 - Junior Tessa Smolinski was one of 13 players from across the region to be selected to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Women’s Volleyball All-Star Team.The Hebron, Conn. product was one of seven players that comprised the ECAC All-Star First Team. Much in part to her standout play at outside hitter, the Springfield College women's volleyball team played in the NCAA Division III Championship for the third-consecutive season.
The postseason accolades have been constant for Smolinski, both for her efforts on the court and in the classroom. Not only was she named an AVCA Second Team All-America, but she recently was selected to the Capital One Academic All-America Second Team. She also earned the NEWMAC All-Conference First Team and NEWVA All-New England First Team honors.
She concluded her junior season with a team-best 467 kills, averaging 3.74 per set, while hitting .286. She wrapped up the year ranked second on the team in digs with 451, and added 37 aces and 32 blocks.

Moira Long will enter her second season as head women's volleyball coach in the fall of 2012. Long wasted little time putting her stamp on the program, taking the Pride to the NCAA Championship Elite Eight in 2011.
