A native of San Jose, Calif., Evans represented Springfield College in the national meet that featured Division I student-athletes and even former Olympic medalists. Evans, the lone Division III competitor, posted a total score of 81.650 to finish in 30th.
Evans' highest score in an event was on the vault, in which he totaled a 15.150. Evans also scored a 14.100 on the parallel bars, a 13.700 on the floor exercise, a 13.550 on the high bar, a 12.700 on the rings, and a 12.450 on the pommel horse. His score on the parallel bars was good enough for 27th place in the event, his highest finish on any apparatus.
Earlier this summer in Colorado Springs, Colo. at the U.S. Men’s Qualifier, Evans, totaled 80.15 points in the all-around, finishing in 16th, to earn a berth into the Visa Championships.
As a freshman in 2009, Evans became the Pride's first national champion since 2004 when he captured the national title on the vault at the USAG Championships. In 2010, Evans continued to excel on the national level as he became the first Springfield gymnast since 2002 to advance to the NCAA Division I Men's Gymnastics Championships.
