Bala and Romanzi Named NEWMAC Doubles Team of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - April 13, 2008 - The Springfield College number two doubles team of Rahul Bala and Trevor Romanzi has been recognized as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Doubles Team of the Week after an impressive week.

The duo led the Pride to a trio of victories over conference foes this week as Springfield has won its last four matches.

In Springfield's 9-0 win over Clark on Monday, the duo defeated the team of Chin/Ly, 8-0. The following day, the duo continued to win with an 8-1 win over Ozimek/Falco of Coast Guard.

On Saturday, as the Pride won its fourth-consecutive match, Bala and Romanzi were victorious over Hudgins/Krantz of Wheaton, 8-3.

Head Coach Toby Coffin

Toby Coffin G’01, enters his second year as the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Springfield College. Coffin, who has coached at numerous high schools in the area, will look to build a program which will contend for a conference crown. Read more.
