Springfield, Mass. - February 2, 2009 - For the seventh time this year, Brian Sobel has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Diver of the Week after another solid showing this weekend in a dual meet against Babson.In the Pride's 154-117 win over the visiting Beavers, Sobel swept the diving competition with wins on both the one and three meter boards. The sophomore diver scored a 319.05 on the one-meter and a 285.85 on the three-meter. Both scores were once again NCAA Championship qualifying marks for the Stratford, Conn. native.
Sobel and the Pride close out the regular season on Saturday as they host Amherst at 1:00 pm.
John Taffe enters his 24th season in 2012-2013 as the head coach of the men's and women's swimming teams at Springfield College. Under Taffe’s leadership, the Pride has returned to its status as one of the best collegiate swimming and diving programs in Division III. Read more.
