



New London, N.H. - November 19, 2012 - Both Mary Consol and Tessa Smolinski were recently recognized with postseason honors from the New England Women’s Volleyball
Association. Smolinski was selected to the NEWVA All-New England First Team, while Consol was picked to compete in the NEWVA Senior Classic.The duo helped Springfield go 27-8 this season and advance to the regional semifinals in its third-straight trip to the NCAA Division III Championship.
Smolinski has racked up plenty of awards this postseason, including earning AVCA All-America second team honors last week. The year, the Hebron, Conn. native produced a team-best 467 kills, averaging 3.74 per set, while hitting .286. She wrapped up the year ranked second on the team in digs with 451, and added 37 aces and 32 blocks.
Consol was was selected as one of New England’s top 35 Division III senior volleyball players and has been invited to compete in Senior Classic on Sunday, Dec. 2, at Babson College. The annual event features the area’s top seniors competing in various skills competitions leading up to the afternoon’s all-star match. The Long Valley, N.J. product was a weapon all season out of the middle, as she tallied 315 kills at a .279 clip to go along with a team-best 116 blocks.

Moira Long will enter her second season as head women's volleyball coach in the fall of 2012. Long wasted little time putting her stamp on the program, taking the Pride to the NCAA Championship Elite Eight in 2011.
