Albany, NY – October 16, 2010 – The Springfield College women’s cross country team competed in the University of Albany Invitational as it scored 369 points to place 12th out of the 22 teams competing in the race.
Senior Lacey Cartier led the way for Springfield yet again, posting a 5K time of 19:07.6, good for 40th place overall. Cartier shaved almost 30 seconds off of her time from last week’s New England Championships.
The University of New Hampshire women won the event with 29 team points. UNH’s team score was helped by four top-6 finishers. Middlebury (85 points), host University of Albany (88), Canisius (124), and Binghamton (149) completed the top five on Saturday.
All five of Springfield’s scorers finished in the top-100 overall. Junior Michelle Mirti ran a time of 19:47.8, freshman Erica Fisher ran a 20:16.7, junior Sissel Holloway finished in 20:29.6, and sophomore Katie Burns rounded out the Pride’s top five with a 20:53 finish.
The Pride will head to Worcester, Mass on October 30 for the NEWMAC Championships.
