Easton, Mass. - May 10-11, 2013 - Both Gabriella Gaudreault and Rhiann Duggan etched their names in the school history books as they had sensational showings for the Springfield College women's track and field team at the All New England Championships at Stonehill College this weekend.
In a competition amongst the best athletes in Division I, II, and II, Springfield finished 16th with 17 total points. Among Division III schools, Springfield had the fifth-highest total.
Gaudreault won the 800 meters in a time of 2:11.19, tying the school record that was set by Heather Cayward in 1993 . Rhiann Duggan reached a height of 10-11.75 to finish 14th in the pole vault competition, setting a new program record in the event. The previous record of 10'10" 3/4 was held by Natasha Landon since 2005.
The Pride's 4x100 relay team of Laurie Jenkins, Elizabeth Saia, Darian Dailey, and Crystal Davis took sixth with a time of 47.62 and are now ranked 6th in Division III this year.
On Friday, Colleen Brague had a sensational showing in the javelin, producing a heave of 131-03 to finish fifth.
In the prelims of the 100 meter dash, Jenkins took 11th in a time of 12.19, while Abby Clark clock in at 15.53 in the 100 hurdles. In the triple jump, Amanda Martin recorded a distance of 37-01.25 to finish 11th, while registering a 16-11.50 to tie for 18th in the long jump. Also in the 800, Jenn Kapinos ran a 2:21.14 to finish 22nd.
Springfield's 4x400 relay of Jessica Miller, Gaudreault, Jenkins, and Davis clocked in at 3:53.81 for 10th, and the 4x800 team of Abigail Wright, Kapinos, Bethany Young, and Nicole DeCristoforo ran a time of 9:49.46 en route to 14th.
