



WELLESLEY, Mass., October 1, 2005 – Springfield College senior forward Amanda Nealon (Agawam, Mass.) scored the Pride’s game-winning goal with 15:41 left on the clock as SC defeated Wellesley College this afternoon (Oct. 1) in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's soccer action.
SC improved its overall record to 4-4-2 and its NEWMAC record to 1-1, while Wellesley falls to 4-3-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
The Pride jumped out to an early 1-0 advantage as senior captain Courtney Goetz (Flemington, N.J.) scored a goal in her second consecutive game, 13 minutes into the contest.
Sophomore goalkeeper Amanda Petri (East Granby, Conn.) saved four Blue shots en route to victory.
SC will next travel to Mount Holyoke College for a conference match-up on Tuesday afternoon, October 4, in a 4:00 p.m. start.
John Gibson, a native of London, England, enters his 14th season as head women's soccer at Springfield College in the fall of 2013. Gibson has led the Pride to the NCAA Tournament in six of the last eight years and has established the Pride as one of the top programs in the country. His clubs have registered an impressive a 165-75-21 record.
