



Springfield, Mass. - September 27, 2010 - Springfield College freshman Drew Vanasse was recognized for his stellar play last week as he was selected as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Soccer Player of the Week.The Concord, Mass. native became the second member of the Springfield College soccer team to take home the weekly conference honor. Chris Walton won earlier this season after owning a shutout streak of nearly 285 minutes.
Vanasse led the Pride to a pair of wins this week as he totaled three goals, including scoring both game-winning goals. In the 4-0 win over Endicott, Vanasse netted two goals off of corner kicks in the first half to power the SC attack. On Saturday, Vanasse scored what would prove to be the game-winning goal as Springfield defeated No. 23 Wheaton, 2-1. It marked the first win for Springfield over the Lyons since 1999.

Steffen Siebert enters his second season at the helm of the Springfield College men's soccer program in the fall of 2013. After three seasons as an assistant coach, Siebert led the Pride to its second-straight trip to the NEWMAC Championship in his first season. Read more.
