The Pride bested visiting Gordon College, 13-10, in its season opener before storming past Nazareth College, 15-7, on the road on Saturday. Sophomore Ryon Lynch has been a catalyst on attack for Springfield with six goals and six assists so far this year.
On a regional scale, Springfield was ranked sixth in New England in this week's NEILA Coaches Poll.
Springfield was in a similar position last season as it entered the year unranked, and after wins over Gordon and Naz, was ranked 18th as well. This marks just the third time since 1995 that Springfield has started the season with consecutive wins, as it traditionally plays one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the entire country.
The Pride will have its hands full as its next five opponents all appear in the USILA Poll. This Sunday, the Pride will travel to square off with 8th-ranked Stevens Tech. The Pride will then have 4th-ranked Middlebury, Keene State who is receiving votes, 11th-ranked Endicott, and 20th-ranked Bowdoin.
