Men's Swimming and Diving Powers Past URI, 152-127
Springfield, Mass. – November 6, 2010
– The Springfield College men’s swimming and diving team improved to 2-0 on the season with their second straight win at the Art Linkletter Natatorium on Saturday afternoon. The Pride outscored the visiting University of Rhode Island, 152-127.
Tim Ramos picked up an early win for the Pride as he emerged victorious in the 1000 yard freestyle, touching in 10:33.54, more than 13 seconds ahead of his closest competitor. Springfield saw a multiple winner in swimmer Nolan Manley for the second consecutive week. Manley took the 200 yard freestyle in 1:48.98, and the 100 freestyle in 0:49.35. In the 200 yard backstroke, the Pride’s Travis Morse took home first with a time of 2:04.17, rounding out the host’s swim event winners for the meet.
In diving, Springfield’s Kenny Pancoast swept both the one-meter and three-meter events. In the one-meter, Pancoast finished with a score of 264.60, before he followed that performance up in the three-meter event with a 282.75.
The Pride men head to Norton, Mass. in two weeks for a tri-meet with Wheaton College and Keene State. That meet will begin at 1:00 pm.

Diving Coach Peter Avdoulos
Peter Avdoulos is regarded as one of the top diving coaches in the nation, and will enter his 29th season as the diving coach for both the men's and women's programs in 2013-2014.
