Men's Lacrosse Tops Babson, 13-8
BABSON PARK, Mass., April 19, 2003 --Springfield College freshman
Taylor Brown (Portsmouth, R.I.) scored four goals as the Pride beat Babson, 13-8, in a Pilgrim League game on Saturday afternoon.
The Pride remained unbeaten in Pilgrim League play, improving to 7-4 overall and 4-0 in the league. Babson, which suffered its first league loss, fell to 7-4 overall and 3-1 in the Pilgrim League.
After both teams scored twice in the opening quarter, Springfield took control of the game in the second, scoring five times to take a 7-4 lead at the half. Brown scored three goals and assisted another, while junior
Paul Purdy (Brewster, N.Y.) added one goal and one assist.
Babson would pull to within 7-5 less than five minutes into the third quarter. That would be as close as the Beavers would get the rest of the way, however, as the Pride scored five of the game’s next six goals to build a commanding 12-6 lead. Purdy and sophomore
Kevin Warnock (Somers, Conn.) each scored twice in the five-goal third for Springfield, and sophomore
Dan Blinn (Longmeadow, Mass.) dished out three of his game-high five assists.
