Women’s Soccer Defeats Westfield State, 1-0
, Sept. 13, 2002 – Springfield College freshman forward Amanda Nealand (East Falmouth, Mass.)
scored the game’s lone goal as the Pride defeated Westfield State, 1-0, in a non-conference affair last night at Alumni Field.
Nealand received a cross from sophomore midfielder Molly Desroches (Belchertown, Mass.)
and buried the ball in the back of the net to record the Pride’s first goal of the season in the 63rd minute of play.
SC senior goaltender Christine McCarey (Middleboro, Mass.)
stopped four shots to earn the shutout. The Pride improve to 1-2 on the season and host Eastern Connecticut State on Saturday September 14th at 2:00 p.m. on Brock-Affleck Field.

Gibson has led the Pride to the NCAA Tournament in five of the last seven years and has established the Pride as one of the top programs in the country.
