Springfield, Mass. - November 10, 2008 - After leading the field hockey team to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference Championships this weekend, Jane Kelleher was selected as the NEWMAC Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.Kelleher powered the field hockey team to its fifth-straight NEWMAC Championship as she had an outstanding weekend. In the Pride's semifinal win over WPI, Kelleher tallied two goals, including the game-winner to lift Springfield to the championship game. In the finals, Kelleher tied the game at one after a terrific individual effort and then assisted on the game-winner as the Pride rallied to down Wellesley, 2-1.
After eight years as head coach of the Pride, Melissa Sharpe, has continued the SC tradition of winning on the field hockey turf, posting an impressive 120-58 record, good for a winning percentage of .674 at the helm of her alma mater. Read more.
