BABSON PARK, Mass., Oct. 9, 2004 -- Babson junior Cara Forsberg scored the match's only goal to lead the Beavers to a 1-0 win over visiting Springfield College in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's soccer match action on Saturday afternoon.
It was SC's fifth one-goal setback of the '04 season. The Pride falls to 3-8-1 overall and 1-3 in conference action. SC has five NEWMAC matches remaining, including home matches against Clark (Oct. 16) and Smith (Oct. 19).
The Pride had its chances, totaling 11 shots and forcing junior keeper Marci McCormack to make five saves. McCormack received all the offensive support she would need in the 57th minute when Forsberg took a feed from senior co-captain Toni Pantuosco and lofted it just over the head of Pride goalie
Christina Davis (Newington, Conn.) and into the corner of the net. It was Forsberg's second goal of the season.
