Puerto Rico Mayaguez Clips Women's Tennis, 6-3

Humacao, Puerto Rico - March 17, 2013 - The Springfield College women's tennis team was defeated by Puerto Rico Mayaguez on Sunday afternoon by the score of 6-3. Sam Carney picked up a win at No. 1 singles to lead the Pride on the day.

The Pride picked up a point in doubles play as Sydney Steimer and Ashley Duhaime were victorious by an 8-4 count.

In singles action, Carney grinded out a 6-2, 3-6, 10-8 win at the top spot for Springfield. The Pride's other point came at No. 5 singles, with Ariana Shemms posting a 6-2, 6-1 win.

The Pride will hit the courts again on Wednesday when it takes on Puerto Rico Rio Piedras in San Juan.
