Women's Track and Field Lands Five on NEWMAC All-Academic Team

BABSON PARK, Mass., May 4, 2006 - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has announced the 2006 NEWMAC Track and Field Academic All-Conference Team.

Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2005 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at his or her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.

The New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference consists of ten highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Jim Pennington Jim Pennington enters his 30th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2013-2014. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
